AFL boss Gillon McLachlan remains tight-lipped on which two sides are the frontrunners to play on Good Friday next year.

The league is expected to break with tradition and schedule a game on the religious holiday in 2017.

Several clubs have expressed an interest in taking part, including North Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Carlton and St Kilda.

"The fixturing process will flush out the final decision (as to whether there is game on Good Friday), but there is momentum for it," McLachlan said.

"I would say the majority of clubs support Good Friday football and there's a fair bit of jockeying going on to be the teams that play if we go down that path.

AFl club bosses met in Melbourne this week to discuss the proposed changes to a range of other issues.
